British heavy metal band from Hull formed in 1979.
Salem was formed in 1979 and built a strong following with their heavy rock based on thundering rhythms, soaring twin-guitars and powerful melodies.
The bands 1982 single sold globally and continued gig across the northeast of England before folding in May 1983.
In 2010, Salems original recordings were released on the album In The Beginning. This attracted great interest, so the band reformed to play its first gig in 27 years!
In 2011, Salem recorded three new tracks (available on a limited edition EP) and played again at The Adelphi on 9 December.
Salem played a number of events in Europe and UK in 2012, including the Heavy Metal Festival V in Italy, Negasonic and Ages of Metal in Belgium, and Metieval Winterfest back in Hull.
In March 2013, Salem released the "X Rated" EP for the BROFEST#1 in Newcastle, which included a bonus new recording of the 1982 song "Reach To Eternity". A new album is planned for later in the year, and the band has further gigs booked in UK, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Italy.
